Mutton Curry – Indian Style

Goat meat or Mutton contains Vitamin B, which helps you burn fat. Considering that goat meat contains high amounts of lean proteins and low amounts of saturated fat, it helps control weight and reduces the risk of obesity. 

Today we’ll be sharing a delicious Mutton curry recipe with you. It is very important to cook red meat on right temperature so that you can enjoy the rich flavors and it makes the meat tender.

SERVES: 4                                                                                                  PREPARATION TIME : 90 mins

Ingredients 

For Marination

Mutton – 500 gm

Curd – 4tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Red Chili powder – 1 tsp

Green Chilies – 7 

Chopped Onion in ring shape – 2 

For Mutton Curry: 

Chopped Onions – 5 

Chopped ginger – 2 inch

Garlic cloves – 20

Cumin seeds – 2 tsp

Coriander seeds – 1 tsp

black pepper – 1/2 tsp

Dry red chilli – 2 

Bay leaves – 3

Cinnamon stick – 3 inch

Red chilli powder – 1 tsp

Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp

Garam Masala powder – 1 tsp

Cooking oil ( Mustard/ other oil) – 4 tsp

Salt to taste

Chopped Coriander leaves

Method:

Marination 

  • Add curd, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp red chili powder, green chilies, 1/2 tsp salt and ring-shaped onions into the mutton and mix well. Let it marinate for 30 mins. 

For Curry Paste

  • Take a blending jar and add cumin seeds, coriander seeds, garlic cloves, cinnamon stick, chopped ginger, black pepper with a little bit of water. Grind and make a fine paste. 

For Mutton Curry 

  • Put pressure cooker on the burner and then add oil. Once the oil starts heating, add bay leaves, cumin seeds, and dry red chilies into the cooker and fry them for a while. 
  • Then add chopped onions and fry them till they turn light brown. Mix turmeric powder and red chili powder.
  • Add marinated Mutton and let it cook on low flame for 25 mins.
  • Add blended paste into it and fry till the oil gets separated from the meat. 
  • Add a glass of water, chopped coriander leaves, salt, garam masala, and stir well.
  • Cover the lip of pressure cooker and keep the flame medium.
  • After two whistles, turn the burner off and let the cooker get cold.
  • Your Mutton is ready!! Serve it with Roti/Rice/bread
